All about Orange

orange collage1 The first thing many people will think of when you say orange, are oranges. But what came first: the color or the fruit? It's actually the fruit. It used to be yellow or black, but after some mixing up the yellow/black orange became orange. Before then orange was first referred to as yellow-red. It's a cheap color. In the Elizabethan era it was a color for the lower classes because it was cheap to produce.

orange collage2Like yellow and red, orange stands out and is therefor a good signalling color, also often used in traffic signs for road works for example. Prisoner's suits in the USA are orange, price tags are often orange. In Indian cultures it means courage, sacrifice and renunciation. And in Hinduism orange is a sacred color used in monks robes.
