Bring your view into other's eyes: Robert Grosso

He used to be a musician. A guitarist and composer. That was in Italy. Roberto Grosso now lives in London. Italy wasn't the best place to find work as a creative. He changed his ways as well. For the band he used to play with Roberto would do the graphic work. So now he's doing that aswell. He had a good start, even getting noticed by Kanye West which of course gave some great exposure. So his connection with music is still strong. Music is very emotional, and during the interview we noticed Roberto was an extravert guy. To him, colors are emotional aswell. And you'll notice his colors are extravertly bright aswell. In a way, he's transforming his music into art work.

His colors are all inspired by his mood. Earlier he'd often use a black background and add dominant colors, sometimes with a pop-arty feel to it. Now he's playing with backgrounds in other colors, which he finds makes it more difficult to get a balanced palette. His preferred colors now are pinks, reds and oranges. He prints on metallic papers to make the white and grey's shine more.  He wants to add movement, of shapes, colors and layers. Make it like a highly saturated pop-explosian. He's learning on a trial & error basis. He also uses augmented reality. With a mobile device and his app (download it!) you'll see more. For Roberto it's an extra way to bring the viewer into his eyes.

It's difficult to make a picture that fit's with a song that Roberto has is in head and want's to make graphic. The way you recieve a song is very personal. For example Riders Of The Storm. It's not dark and on a motorcycle. Its a horse in the desert. The stories he makes of songs are hidden in his painting, with several layers. The augmented reality helps to create a new layer, and it helps to create surprise.
