You won’t find much black or white in Marianne van Heeswijk’s work. She loves colors. She works with second hand materials she scavenges from garage sales, markets and elsewhere and Marianne only selects the more colorful artifacts. She considers her own work to be quite extreme, so she’s not easily insulted if someone doesn’t like it. It’s all over the place really. From portraits of beautiful women, to people with dog’s heads, to a simple yet effective carpet made of old vinyl records.
Is there a meaning behind her choice of colors for the Lady portraits? No. So you’ll have to see for yourself if you notice the different effect each color has on the portraits of a girl. Which do you find most seductive, sensual, or innocent?
