The Milan based duo Carnovsky (Francesco Rugi and Silvia Quintanilla), winner of the Wallpaper Design Award 2012 for their RGB Wallpaper, have extended the RGB series with a fine silk scarf with RGB images of animals. The new, light, material was challenging for Carnovsky to work with, after having already used the RGB principle on prints, playing cards and wallpaper. The silk scarfs have an added effect compared the the other materials as it is transparent. The look of the scarf is influenced by what is worn beneath the scarf.

The RGB effect enables Carnovsky to create several surfaces on one piece, and the work is dynamic in that it changes according to the light reflecting on it. Below you can clearly see the RGB effect. Using the wallpaper as shown at the Johanssen Gallery in Berlin, you can see the RGB wallpaper ‘deconstructed’ by changing the color of the light. By changing the color of the light, certain animals can’t be seen anymore, whereas others appear vividly.
