The Guggenheim Museum in New York has opened the James Turrell installation ‘Aten Reign’ on June 22nd. It’s his first exhibit in New York since 1980, and for this exhibit he has transformed the rotunda of the famous building by Frank Loyd Wright into a Skyspace. This skyspace is filled with changing natural and artificial led light making the installation dynamic and exposing the materiality of light. Also, a selection of James Turrell’s early work has been added to the exhibit giving an overview of his explorations on the perception of light, color and space, and how site specific light really is. The exhibit can be viewed at the Guggenheim Museum until September 25th.
